I would prefer a push to eliminate residential property tax altogether. A tax on ownership means there is no such thing as ownership. It is just punishment for ownership, and the rate is not based on ability to pay the tax. That is why most taxes are based on the transfer of wealth. When wealth is transferred you can guarantee the payer is able to pay that tax. I would rather see an increase in income and/or preferably sales taxes.

As far as taxes on corporations, they can have a 0% tax rate for all I care. A tax on a corporation is just an indirect tax on individuals. It just gets taken out either by a reduced salary or through increased prices. I would rather be taxed directly so I have a full understanding how much of my money is going to the government instead of having it obfuscated through a corporation.

I appreciate your concerns and your work against such an egregious budget proposal. There is no need to give corporations additional tax breaks over those that they already enjoy. And there is no need to take funds from public education to fund what are essentially private or religious educational endeavors. Thank you for your vigilance!

With Republicans like this who needs democrats? Seriously, it would be nice to have an opposition party that came to the table with more than the tired boogeyman that schools/police/fire/libraries are going to become non-existent without drinking out of the firehose pumping taxpayer dollars they've been drinking from lately. And yes, I realize it's the same BS the local politicians trot out every time. And my God, seriously with the "public schools" whining, grow up. Everyone knew public schools had too much money when they decided to include DEI departments: offices that contributed absolutely nothing to the education of a student. Maybe Carmel High School will have to go without a $55Million dollar swimming pool next time (yes, they actually just spent that on one). The horror.

My property taxes have more than doubled in the last five years, but this is the best you all can come up with. And it's the usual targeted "fixed income" crew and wondering why the people who don't pay taxes directly (renters) aren't included. This crap would be laughable if it wasn't so serious. Maybe if democrats grew up they'd drag the republicans yelling and screaming along with them, or people might start deciding to vote for them instead.
